			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align:justify;">Deşi clădirea sălii cu orgă se află în paragină, iar faţada este de nerecunocut sub schelele instalate pentru recontrucţie, interiorul încă impresionează. Este cea mai frumoasă sală de concert din oraş, dar şi cea mai cochetă clădire a urbei. Îngheţata de la &#8220;Friguşor&#8221; şi o fotografie lîngă leii din pragul  sălii cu orgă erau în capul listei lucrurilor de făcut pentru toate călătoriile în capitală a copiilor din provincie. Însă fascinaţia mea pentru această cladire era dublată de o alta, care la acel timp era separată de prima, neştiind că edificiul încorporează acea sală cu scaune albastre şi coloane albe din anostele transmisiuniTV ale concertelor simfonice din anii 90, a căror menire, eram sigur, erasă  frutreze copiii dornici de desene animate. Dar pînă să închid repede televizorul înainte ca acele transmisiuni TV să înceapă, rămîneam oarecum perplex la decorul absurd al scenei, care consta, în închipuirea mea, din cîteva naiuri imense dispuse în perechi pe peretele din spate ale scenei, a căror rost nu-l puteam intui, dar care, eram sigur, nu puteau fi pur decorative. În imaginaţia mea, aveau ei vreun solist, vreun ciclop gigant, care îl acompania pe Vasile Iovu sau Gheorghe Zamfir, ocazie cu care naiurile îşi părăseau locul de pe suportul de lemn. Şi aceluiaşi personaj închipuit îi erau destinate mărţişoarele supradimensionate care atîrnau de tavan cu ocazia tradiţionalelor festivaluri omonime de primăvară.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Toate au devenit clare mai tîrziu, deşi, din fericire, fascinaţia a rămas. Aflăm acum că orga, căci despre ea era vorba, e construită de firma „Rieger-Kloss&#8221; din oraşul ceh Krnov. Totuşi, abia aseară, cu ocazia fetivalului dedicat lui J.S. Bach, am avut ocazia să fiu introdus nemijlocit scopului primar al sălii şi enigmaticului intrument.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Orga, fiind un instrument atît de impunător, atît ca dimensiuni cît şi ca sunet, nu poate evolua decît solitar. Chiar şi solistul ocupă un loc mai puţin decît secundar, în contextul proporţiilor impresionante ale orgii. În biserici, de cele mai multe ori, artistul se află după un paravan, căci muzica produsă de orgă se vrea a fi divină, expresie muzicală a religiei. Evident, dacă Dumnezeu ar alege să fie reprezentat de un instrument muzical, cu siguranţă doar orga ar corespunde megalomaniei acestuia.</p>

An early success he seems to have not fully recovered from. Written from a stand point of a lying-on-the-couch, anger-driven, self-conscious, frustrated, rant-inclined, neurotic Jewish patient, it recounts the struggles against the ready-made ways of being young and the limit-loving society of the sixties. Even though they are said to have had parallel careers, the resemblance between Woody Allen&#8217;s and Philip Roth&#8217;s ways are just uncanny, I suppose it&#8217;s one of the cases when same ethnic background produces faithfully similar consciousnesses and talented spirits. They make irony and sarcasm seem like the most intricate product of Jewish engineering, too bad for them it cannot be sold as panacea against any kind of human distress. To make things even more spicy, like the shared background of strict Jewish families, the successful careers and the equally unsuccessful marriages, and the unsupressable libido were not enough, rumors have it that<span id="more-191"></span> Mia Farrow, the grief-stricken stepmother and divorcee, has shortly benefited from Roth&#8217;s charms after the scandalous breakup with Woody.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Spicy details aside, you&#8217;ll find enough of those in the book itself, I give you some of Roth&#8217;s finest:</p>
<p>the mother:</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">&#8220;She was so deeply imbedded in my consciousness that for the first year of school I  seem to have believed that each of my teachers was my mother in disguise. As soon as the last bell had sounded, I would rush off for home, wondering as I ran if I could possibly make it to our apartment before she had succeeded in transforming herself. Invariably she was already in the kitchen by the time I arrived, and setting out my milk and cookies. Instead of causing me to give up my delusions, however, the feat merely intensified my respect for her powers. And then it was always a relief not to have caught her between incarnations anyway &#8211; even if I never stopped thinking; I knew that my father and sister were innocent of my mother&#8217;s real nature, and the burden of betrayal that I imagined would fall to me if I ever came upon the unawares was more than I wanted to bear at the age of five. I think I even feared that I might have to be done away with were I to catch sight of her flying in from school through the bedroom window, or making herself emerge, limb y limb, out of an invisible state and into her apron.&#8221;</p>
<p>the father:</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">&#8220;His scrotum is like a long wrinkled face of some old man with an egg tucked into each of his sagging jowls &#8211; while mine might hang from the wrist of some little girl&#8217;s dolly like a teeny pink purse. And as for his shlong, to me, with that fingertip of a prick that my mother likes to refer to in public (once, okay, but that once will last a lifetime) as my little thing, his shlong brings to mind the fire hoses coiled along the corridors at school. Shlong: the word somehow catches exactly the brutishness, the meatishness, that I admire so, the sheer mindless, weighty, and unselfconscious dangle of that living piece of hose through which he passes streams of water as thick and strong as rope-while I deliver forth slender yellow threads that my euphemistic mother calls a sis. A sis, I think, is undoubtedly what my sister makes, little yellow threads that you can sew with&#8230; Do you want to make a nice sis? she asks me &#8211; when I want to make a torrent, I want to make a flood: I want like he does to shift the tides of the toilet bowl! Jack, my mother calls to him, would you close that door, please? Some example you&#8217;re setting for you know who. But if only that had been so, Mother! If only you-know-who could have found some inspiration in what&#8217;s-his-name&#8217;s coarseness! If only I could have nourished myself upon the depths of his vulgarity, instead of that too becoming a sources of shame. Shame and shame and shame and shame &#8211; every place I turn something else to be ashamed of.&#8221;</p>

George wouldn&#8217;t let up. &#8220;Attachment is ruinous and your enemy. Joseph Conrad: He who forms a tie is lost. That you should sit there looking like you do is absurd. You tasted it. Isn&#8217;t that enough? Of what do you ever get more than a taste? That&#8217;s all we&#8217;re given in life, that&#8217;s all we&#8217;re given <em>of life. </em>A taste. NO, you can&#8217;t understand. The only thing you understand about the old when you&#8217;re not old is that they have been stamped by their time. But understanding only that freezes them in their time, and so amounts to no understanding at all. To those not yet old, being old means <em>you&#8217;ve been.</em><em> </em>But being old also means that despite, in addition to, and in excess of your beenness, you still are. Your beenness is very much alive. You still are, and one si as haunted by the still-being and its fullness as by the having-already-been, by the pastness. Think of old age this way: it&#8217;s just an everyday fact that one&#8217;s life is at stake. One cannot evade knowing what shortly awaits one. The silence that will surround one forever. Otherwise it&#8217;s all the same. Otherwise one is immortal for as long as one lives.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Not too many years ago, there was a ready-made way to be old, just as there was a readymade way to be young.  Neither obtains any longer. A great fight about the permissible took place here &#8211; and a great overturning. Nonetheless, should a man of seventy still be involved in the carnal aspect of the human comedy? To be unapologetically an unmonastic old man susceptible still to be humanly exciting? That is not the condition as it was once symbolized by the pipe and the rocking chair. Maybe it&#8217;s still a bit of an affront to people, to fail to abide by the old clock of life. I realize that I can&#8217;t count on the virtuous regard of other adults. But what can i do about the fact that, as far as I can tell, nothing, <em>nothing</em> is put to rest, however old a man may be?&#8221;</p>

As a young man, he&#8217;d thought of <em>himself </em>as square, so coneventional and unadventurous that after art school, instead of striking out on his own to paint and to live on whatever money he could pick up at odd jobs &#8211; which was his secret ambition &#8211; he was too much the good boy, and, answering to his parents&#8217; wishes rather than his own, he married, had children, and went into advertising to make a secure living. He never though of himself as anything more than an average human being, and one who would have given anything for his marriage to have lasted a lifetime. He had married with just that expectation. But instead marriage became his prison cell, and so, after much tortuous thinking that preoccupied him while he worked and when he should have been sleeping, he began fitfully, agonizingly, to tunnel his way out. Isn&#8217;t that what average human beings do every day? Contrary to what his wife told everyone, he hadn&#8217;t hungered after the wanton freedom to do anything and everything. Far from it. He hungered for something stable all the while he detested what he had. He was not a man who wished to live tow lives. He held no grudge against either the limitations or the comforts of conformity. He&#8217;d wanted merely to empty his mind of all the ugly thoughts spawned by the disgrace of prolonged marital warfare. He was not claiming to be exceptional. Only vulnerable and assailable and confused. And convinced of his right, as an average human being, to be pardoned ultimately for whatever deprivations he may have inflicted upon his innoncent childre in order no to live deranged half the time.&#8221;</p>

In the Congress, in the press, and on the networks, the righteous grandstanding creeps, crazy to blame, deplore, and punish, were everywhere out moralizing to beat the band: all of them in a calculated frenzy with what Hawthorne (who, in the 1860s, lived not many miles from my door) identified in the incipient country of long ago as &#8220;the persecuting spirit&#8221;; all of them eager to enact the astringent rituals of purification that would excise the erection from the executive branch, thereby making things cozy and safe enough for Senator Lieberman&#8217;s ten-year-old daughter to watch TV with her embarrassed daddy again. No, if you haven&#8217;t lived through 1998, you don&#8217;t know what sanctimony is.&#8221;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align:justify;">‘7 aprilie’ este probabil tag-ul care a făcut cele mai mari audiențe pe parcursul ultimului an, nu întîmplător companiile media, de stat dar și private, desfășoară ample proiecte în jurul evenimentului, unii îl analizează, alții îl exploatează, și încă alții –și una și alta. Am avut un an de discuții, însă totuși a fost nevoie de o aniversare pentru ca acestea să se acutizeze și să capete mai multă substanță.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Cel mai des, alături de tag-ul ‘7 aprilie’ apare cel de ‘adevăr’. Se caută frenetic un adevăr, un narativ care ar putea explica totul, care ar pune cap la cap toate evenimentele și răzmerița din ziua de 7.04.09. Uneori e greu să faci regulă în propriile gînduri, dar mite în gîndurile, intențiile și acțiunile miilor și miilor de actori implicați volens-nolens în evenimentele zilei cînd a ars parlamentul. Dar suntem în continuare blestemați de un flux la foc continuu de știri despre știri, de reacții la reacții, de investigații despre investigații. Încă mai am acel sentiment distinct pe care l-am avut acum un an, cînd, fiind în PMAN am alergat la un internet cafe pentru a afla ce se întîmpla în fața președenției. Iar pe net<span id="more-129"></span>, n-am găsit decît un flux de știri, nici o analiză, nici o prezentare de ansamblu, doar evenimente diverse, în majoritatea lor, despre stricăciuni și despre lozincile scandate. Am așteptat și în zilele următoare ca cineva să vină cu o interpretare validă a ceea ce s-a întîmplat ziua în ziua de 7 și încă mai aștept, se pare că degeaba. Însă în continuare ni se sugerează și ne-o sugerăm noi înșine că un adevăr totuși ar exista, că nu trebuie decît să căutăm și că undeva acolo, sub fum, sînge, praf și mobilier stricat există ceva numit adevăr, de preferință unul singur și acela scris negru pe alb. Însă străzile au fost curățate, cele două clădiri devastate ale parlamentului și președenției au fost renovate, s-au strîns pietrele și mobilierul stricat, însă dedesubt nu a fost de găsit Adevărul.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Să împărțim ziua de 7 aprilie în două părți: pînă la apus și după. Ceea ce s-a întîmplat după apus este relativ clar, maltratări au existat, crime s-au comis, depășiri ale atribuțiilor de către serviciile de forță cu atît mai mult. Cum tratăm evenimentele de pînă la apus, și anume pe acelea care au culminat cu devastările parlamentului și președenției este o întrebare care pare să nu-și găsească un răspuns clar și universal acceptat.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Eu am un răspuns propriu la această întrebare, însă acesta nu va face istorie, nu va alimenta discursuri pompoase despre idealuri, nu va lăsa loc termenilor de revoluție sau lovitură de stat și probabil va displăcea multora prin simplitatea (poate chiar cinicitatea) lui. Acest răspuns nu este întru totul nepopular dar pare să piardă teren în favoarea interpretărilor politice și partizane. Eu cred ca cea mai adecvată descriere a ceea ce s-a întîmplat pe 7 aprilie 2009 este o revoltă populară spontană care, din cauza golului de putere lăsat de organele de menținere a ordinii publice, a putut degenera în violențe și devastări care au servit drept motiv (nu pretext) pentru fărădelegile sistemului din noaptea ce a urmat. Am impresia că orice interpretare care transcede cu mult limitele acestei descrieri factuale a situației sunt exagerări.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Chiar și așa, sunt destule elemente de discutat. Spontaneietatea protestului nu cred că poate fi pusă la îndoială. Însă tranziția lor în violențe a fost la fel de spontană? Oricare dintre răspunsurile la această întrebare vine cu implicații neplăcute pentru participanții la proteste &#8211; ‘revoluționarii’. În următoarele zile după eveniment, în mare vogă era versiunea manipulării maselor spre violențe, se vorbea foarte mult despre provocatori și organizatori din umbră puși de către comuniști să direcționeze masele după un scenariu convenabil lor, a cărui mobil era discreditarea opoziției. Această versiune, destul de plauzibilă la început, a pierdut foarte mult din turații, căci acceptarea acesteia pare să necesite și o delimitare de tot ce s-a întîmplat în acea zi. Este absolut firesc că cei prezenți în fața parlamentului să nu dorească să apară ca simple păpuși în mîinile păpușarului comunist dar să și vrea să se delimiteze de devastările și violențele care au avut loc. Întrebarea este: a aparținut evenimentul participanților sau unor forțe din umbră? Participanții cu siguranță vor dori să-și revendice faptul că evenimentul a fost expresia intențiilor lor proprii și nu a unor intenții străine, astfel, prezic că ipoteza manipulatorilor și a provocatorilor, indiferent de plauzibilitatea ei, va fi marginalizată pentru moment, iar pe termen lung aceasta va fi uitată.  Dar, oricît de mîndri și de înflăcărați de presupusele merite ale lui 7 aprilie n-ar fi protestatarii, ar trebui să le stăruie mereu în minte imaginile polițiștilor speriați și a parlamentului arzînd, căci ele au fost o oglindire fidelă a ceea ce lîncezește foarte aproape de intențiile bune și idealurile progresiviste. Nici măcar existența unor provocatori nu poate justifica actele de nebunie și violență individuală sau colectivă care au însoțit scandările despre liberate, integrare europeană și unire. Oare cît de diferită a fost ziua de noaptea lui 7 aprilie 2009?</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Despre teoriile conspiraționiste.  Nu le cred din simplul motiv că ele presupun un subiect ideal și atotștiutor (ceea ce este un mit, un alter-Deus) care ar fi în stare să direjeze evenimentele după bunul plac, anticipînd reacții și evoluții greu de prezis. Ar fi cu totul imposibil ca un eveniment de complexitatea celui din 7 aprilie să fi putut fi organizat de cineva anume, nimic decît spontaneietatea și mîna invizibilă nu pot fi responsabile pentru rezultatul final. E imposibil să dirijezi o fortună într-o direcție anume. Chiar dacă ar fi existat intenții la diferite etape ale evenimentelor de a le da o anumită orientare, sunt convins că ele au eșuat și că evenimentele au fost în afara oricărui control, iar rezultatul final a coincis cu vreun plan inițial doar în mod absolut accidental.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">O întrebare la modă pe panourile publicitare din oraș este: “Pe 7 aprilie, a fost revoluție sau tentativă de lovitură de stat?” Nici una, nici alta. Nu a fost revoluție pentru că impactul evenimentelor nu a fost suficient de puternic, evenimentele în sine nu au revoluționat nimic. Se face o mare eroare cînd 7 aprilie este identificat cu învingerea comuniștilor. De fapt, lupta s-a dat în parlament, acolo unde opoziția a rezistat eroic și a provocat alegeri anticipate. Dar nici alegerile anticipate in sine nu ar fi constituit o victorie fara plecarea lui Marian Lupu din partidul comunistilor. Cu toate învinuirile aduse fostei guvernări despre fraudarea masivă a alegerilor din 5 aprilie, la alegerile anticipate din 29 iulie partidul comunistilor a acumulat exact cît a acumulat și la 5 aprilie minus cele 13 mandate care au mers spre Marian Lupu si partidul democrat. Insă, chiar daca rezultatele au fost identice, acestea nu au mai generat discuții despre fraude electorale căci o coaliție de guvernare anti-comunistă a putut fi constituită. Astfel, 7 aprilie a eclipsat adevărata luptă, cea care s-a dat în parlament.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Tentativă de lovitură de stat? De unde? Liderii AIE s-au desolidarizat de actele de violență destul de curînd, ei nici măcar n-au fost acolo ca să imprime o anumită organizare întregii afaceri. Comuniștii aveau cele mai puține motive să organizeze așa ceva, erau la guvernare și tocmai obținuseră 60 de mandate în noul Parlament, erau la un pas de un nou vis împlinit pe cale legală și cu felicitările observatorilor internaționali nu puteau decît să se bucure și să nu caute aventuri. Cît privește interesele altor state și super-puteri, acolo chair nu mă bag, dar ca să fiu concis, sunt foarte sceptic.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">7 aprilie a fost o zi fără eroi, a fost însă o zi cu victime. Unii au fost victime ale represiunii, alții, cei mai mulți, au fost victimile hăului întunecos în care se aruncă o societate cînd simte mirosul puterii fără limite și a crimei nepedepsite. Felul cum s-a comportat mulțimea după ce nu a mai putut fi pașnică este felul în care îmi imaginez eu că ar arăta o societate dacă nu ar mai avea sentimentul că este privită și păzită.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">7 aprilie a fost o zi fără glorie. Iar ‘revoluția’ din 7 aprilie și 7 aprilie din discursurile pline de patos ale politicienilor noștri sunt niște mituri (pansamente) de care părți ale societății noastre au nevoie.</p>
